LOCATION
ORIG DESCRIPTION* ORIGINAL DIAGNOSIS: Spherules or coccoid bodies, attached individually, in pairs, rows, or in clusters to the exine surface of spores, pollen, and woody fragments; occasionally diplococcoid, that is, one cell grows on the other; small hyphae seen occasionally, hyphae bacillary, sometimes beaded, indicating the developing spherules within them.
COMMENTS* The genus Annella differs from Palynomorphites Moore 1963 in its lack of continuous or long filamentous structures or mycelia. Annella has small, cylindrical bacillary hyphae that disintegrate after the development of the spherules.

Etymology: The generic name is derived from the middle name of Mrs. Rosalind Anne Srivastava. Latin, -ella, diminutive; Ann- + -ella = Annella.
