LOCATION Fremouw Peak, Transantarctic Mountains, Antarctica.
ORIG DESCRIPTION* Sporocarp 350-500 µm in diameter, with single ostiole; wall constructed of three multicellular layers except in region of ostiole where only a single layer is present. Appendages extending through wall, unbranched and distributed evenly on sporocarp surface. Central cavity empty or containing granulose, spherical spores 12-16 µm in diameter.
COMMENTS* The generic name Endochaetophora refers to the internally (Gr. endo) bearing (Gr. -phor) appendages (Gr. chaeta); the specific epithet antarctica refers to the collection locality.
