Filaments occasionally solitary; commonly gregarious, sinuously interlaced in a loosely woven prosenchyma-like mass. Lateral walls approximately 1/4-2/3 µm thick, somewhat coriaceous with finely to coarsely granular surface texture. Filaments up to 172 µm long (incomplete filament), more or less regularly cylindrical with a variance in diameter of less than 0.5 µm from the widest to the most narrow portion of the filament; 2.1-3.4 µm in diameter, with an average width (16 filaments measured) of 2.5 µm. Septate portions of filaments rare, commonly about 20 µm long, with filaments dilated or constricted and commonly overlapping at septa; overlapping portions commonly attenuated.
