LOCATION Quilon and Warkalli beds of Kerala State along the west coast of South India; locality: Padappakkara.
ORIG DESCRIPTION* Spores spheroidal, 22-30 µm in diameter, unicellular, light brown in color, a single pore towards one side, pore 2 µm in diameter, simple, flush with general surface of spore, spore wall two-layered, outer layer slightly thicker, surface psilate to locally finely flecked.
COMMENTS* Monoporisporites stoveri described from the Paleocene of Texas (Elsik, 1968) differs in its pouting pore. Monoporisporites annulatus and M. singularis, described from the Eocene of Tennessee, USA. (Sheffy & Dilcher, 1971) are distinguished by an annulus around the pore. Commonly found in the Quilon and Warkalli beds.
