SPECIES, AUTHORITY M. koenigii Elsik 1968, p. 272, pl. 2, fig. 31.
LOCATION Strip mine approximately 7 miles southwest of Rockdale, Milam County, Texas, USA.
ORIG DESCRIPTION* Subspherical to pear shaped, psilate, monoporate fungal spores. Size 20 to 22 µm wide and 24 to 30 µm long. Spore wall generally darkly pigmented, 1.5 µm thick. Inner layer of wall twice as thick as outer layer. An outer, very thin third layer may be present. Apical pore 0.5 µm, bulges out slightly without thickening of the spore wall. Wall turned into the pore.
COMMENTS* This species illustrates the confusion which may result when generic differentiation is made on shape alone.
