SPECIES, AUTHORITY M. lagenarius Song & Luo, in Song Zhichen, Li Guangxing, Cao Liu, Luo Haicen & Sun Zihua 1989, p. 38, pl. 2, fig. 15.
LOCATION Shahejie Formation: Shenxian county of Shandong Province, China.
ORIG DESCRIPTION* Outline of spore like a vase with a rounded base. Spores unicellular, 23 x 31 µm, one end broadly rounded, other end slightly pointed and with a protuberant neck, about 3 µm in height, with a flat truncated termination about 6 µm in width, with a simple pore. Spore wall thick, composed of two layers, thinning at the porate end, other part thickened, about 2 µm in thickness, surface smooth.
COMMENTS* This species can be distinguished from other species of Monoporisporites by having a pore situated on the narrowly extended end.

K&J REMARKS A thin narrow line, parallel to the pore is shown to project beyond the spore outline. Although Kalgutkar and Jansonius (2000) think it may be extraneous material overlapping the spore, it is shown in Kalgutkar and Jansonius's (2000) figure. In the equatorial region there appears a broad opaque band that could represent a septum, but, as well, may be foreign matter overlying the spore.
