LOCATION Arabian Sea.
ORIG DESCRIPTION* Spherical to oval fungal spores; size range 10-19 µm, unicellate, aseptate; monoporate, pore small, ca. 0.5-1.5 µm in diameter, circular, without any distinct annulus; spore wall up to 1 µm thick, psilate, single-layered, pigment medium to dark, area around the pore darker than rest of the spore.
COMMENTS* The present species differs from Monoporisporites annulatus van der Hammen 1954 and M. singularis Sheffy & Dilcher 1971 by not possessing an annulus. Monoporisporites psilatus differs in being larger. Monoporisporites stoveri Elsik 1968 differs by having bulged pore. Monoporisporites koenigii and M. smithii described by Elsik (1968) are larger in size. Other species of this genus differ either in shape or in size.
