SPECIES, AUTHORITY M. sperryi (Elsik) Kalgutkar & Jansonius 2000
LOCATION Strip mine approximately 7 miles southwest of Rockdale, Milam County, Texas, USA.
ORIG DESCRIPTION* Monoporate, reticulate fungal spores 8 x 13 µm. Wall of two layers; inner one psilate and 0.5 µm thick. Outer layer reticulate, 0.5 µm thick, thinning apically and over the base. Reticulum irregular; muri less than 0.5 µm across. Apical pore, ca. 0.5 µm, bulges outward but wall is not thickened.

K&J REMARKS Through Kalgutkar and Jansonius's (2000) transfer of this species, the type of Reticulatisporonites, to Monoporisporites, Reticulatisporonites becomes a junior taxonomic synonym of the latter.
