LOCATION Scotland.
ORIG DESCRIPTION* (Diagnosis): Branched filaments, 5-12 μm in diameter, entirely covered with an irregularly distributed external ornament consisting of a mixture of grana, coni, spinae, verrucae and occasional pila. There are no conspicuous perforations of the septa. Flask-shaped protuberances are often present.

(Description): Walls of filaments ca. 1 μm thick; the sculptural elements are generally less than 1 μm high and wide, except on the lateral branches and flask-shaped protuberances where the ornament is generally larger and more densely distributed, and the elements are up to 2.5 μm high. The branches are 68-110 μm apart and generally arranged at obtuse angles. Septa occur every 25-150 μm along the filaments, and also usually separate the branches from the main filament. The branches often occur in pairs, directly opposite one another across the main filament. The branches often swell immediately beyond the septum, then rapidly return to normal width, thus creating a flask shape. Occasionally filaments are preserved that appear to be enclosed within a levigate sheath.
