SPECIES, AUTHORITY D. minifusiformis Kalgutkar & Jansonius 2000 Pl. 14, fig. 34.
LOCATION Shahejie Formation: Shenxian county of Shandong Province, China.
ORIG DESCRIPTION* Spores fusiform, holotype 35 x 14 µm. Spores multicellular, holotype 7-celled, middle cell large, square in outline, cells at both terminal ends small, rectangular in outline, contact area between two cells generally without constriction. Septa six, discoidal, without septal folds. Pores situated at smallest cells of both terminal ends, simple. Spore wall about 1 µm in thickness.
COMMENTS* This species can be distinguished from other species of Diporicellaesporites by its shape, size and structure of cells.
PUBLICATION REFERENCE Song Z, Li G, Cao L, Luo H, Sun Z. 1989. Early Tertiary sporo-pollen assemblages from the Dongpu region; Edited by Research Institute of Exploration and Development, Zhongyuan Petroleum Exploration Bureau, Nanjing Institute of Geology and Palaeontology, Academia Sinica. 192 p.
K&J REMARKS The single figure illustrated appears to have some longitudinal septa, subdividing the middle five cells (that are separated by four transverse septa). Although this specimen has two more cells than Diporicellaesporites elegans, it is closely similar in shape, structure and size, and the two specimens may well be conspecific. If the two species are to be combined, Kalgutkar and Jansonius (2000) propose that the name D. elegans have priority.

The new name "minifusiformis" refers to the fact that this species is smaller, and more broadly fusiform, than its senior homonym D. fusiformis Ramanujam & Srisailam.
