LOCATION Piedras Negras, Coahuila State, Mexico.
ORIG DESCRIPTION* Tetracellular, triseptate, diporate fungal spore. The end cells are rounded, and each has a pore; the middle cells are rectangular. One of the end cells is 5 µm and the other 6 µm long. One of the middle cells is 4 µm and the other 5 µm long. The septa are 1 µm thick and have a V-shaped aperture in their middle part. The pores are 1 µm in diameter. The exine is approximately 0.5 µm thick. Oval perimeter with bilateral symmetry. Smooth ornamentation. Dimensions: 21 µm long by 10 µm wide.
COMMENTS* This species is named D. elsikii in honor of Dr. W.C. Elsik, one of the pioneers in the study of fossil fungus remains.
