SPECIES, AUTHORITY F. harrisii (Varma & Rawat) Kalgutkar & Jansonius 2000
LOCATION Western and eastern India, including oil exploration areas in West Bengal and Assam; geographically the areas are about 1440 km distant from each other.
ORIG DESCRIPTION* Pollen grains 2-porate, bilateral, isopolar, elongated, with narrowly ending lateral sides (21-36 x 42-72 x 21-36 µm), generally 28.5 x 57 x 28.5 µm. Pores 4-8.6 µm in diameter, at each end of the long axis. Pore (outer) opening presumably circular (diameter 2.9-5 µm), elevated by a collar about 2.9-8.6 µm high (usually 5-6 µm). Occasionally there are two unequal thickenings on the basal part of the collar leaving a slit-like space traversing the centre of the collar (16a-b). A thin sexinous extension above the pore opening is sometimes present but in most cases it breaks irregularly. General body of the grain usually fragile, provided with irregular folds. Exine punctate, less than 1.4 µm thick. Sexine and nexine indistinguishable.
COMMENTS* Frequency high.
