SPECIES, AUTHORITY F. elongatus (Srivastava) Kalgutkar & Jansonius 2000
LOCATION East Coulee locality, sec. 27, twp. 27, rge. 18, W. 4th mer., Alberta, Canada.
ORIG DESCRIPTION* Fungal spores multicellular, uniseriate, individuals consist of two to many cells; cells elongate, length variable, outline more or less rectangular; septa between cells flat, bidentate, opening through each septum small, size of the opening about 0.5 µm; cell wall psilate, thickness about 1 µm. Size-range: 60-200 x 8-10 µm; holotype 138 µm.
COMMENTS* Pluricellaesporites elongatus has smaller septal opening than in P. psilatus Clarke 1965. Pluricellaesporites elongatus can be distinguished from P. nodosus in having bidentate septa and from P. psilatus in having elongated rectangular cells. The specific epithet is given because of the elongated cells of the species.
