SPECIES, AUTHORITY H. constrictus (Mathur & Mathur) Kalgutkar & Jansonius 2000
LOCATION Naera and Baraia area of Kutch, India.
ORIG DESCRIPTION* Surface view. Spores bilocular, horizontally septate, strongly constricted at the septum, individual cells 12 x 9.8 µm in size, two-layered, psilate, brown.
COMMENTS* The specific name is in reference to the strong constriction at the septum. Dyadosporites ellipsus Clarke (1965, pl. 1, figs. 13-14) differs from D. constrictus in having a pronounced elliptical shape, larger size, prominent pores and faint constriction at the septum. Similar forms are described by Altehenger (1959, pl. 1, fig. 7) under "zweizellige Pilzsporen" and by Mathur (1963, pl. 20, fig. 2) from Eocene of Kutch, under Dyadosporites but with no specific name.
PUBLICATION REFERENCE Mathur YK, Mathur K. 1969. Studies in the fossil flora of Kutch, India. III. On the palaeopalyflora in the Pliocene sediments of Naera-Baraia area, Kutch; Bulletin of the Geological, Mining & Metallurgical Society of India, no. 42, 12 p.
K&J REMARKS Mathur & Mathur incorrectly cited the generic name as "Dyadosporonites van der Hammen 1954". See also comments on this generic name and Dyadosporites by Jansonius & Hills. This error in bibliographic citation does not, however, invalidate the publication of the species name.

The photograph of the type specimen shows a distinct hilum and subtending hyphal fragment; it probably is a teleutospore.
