ORIG DESCRIPTION* Aseptate, psilate fungal spores ca. 12 x 23 µm overall. Outline in top view elliptical, ends of the spore are notched by the ends of the straight furrow which is parallel to the length of the spore. Thickness of the spore wall is 0.5 µm or less.
COMMENTS* Hypoxylonites edigeri is not as narrowly fusiform as Hypoxylonites fusiformis.

Derivation: Named in honor of V.S. Ediger.
