LOCATION Strata in the Socony-Vacuum Borehole # 2, Isla de Cubagua, Venezuela.
ORIG DESCRIPTION* Awl-shaped fungal spores, psilate with elongate furrow about 1/4 or less of the spore length on the straight side of the spore. Outline very narrowly elliptical in top view. Overall size ca. 7 x 56 µm. The wall is 0.5-1 µm thick and can be slightly thickened at the apices.
COMMENTS* This species is differentiated on its overall size and greatly elongated shape. It has the basic look of H. sulekii and H. gulfensis but is of much greater length.

Derivation: From L., subula, awl; and forma, shape.
