SPECIES, AUTHORITY I. solidus Song Zhichen & Cao Liu 1994, p. 37, pl. 1, fig. 3.
LOCATION King George Island, Antarctica.
ORIG DESCRIPTION* Spores ovate, one end broadly rounded and the other slightly pointed, size of spores in 10 specimens 28-32 x 18-22 µm; size of holotype 29 x 22 µm; inaperturate, unicellular; spore wall solid, easily fractured, more than 1 µm in thickness, surface smooth; spores black.
COMMENTS* Similar to Inapertisporites obscurus Sheffy & Dilcher (1971, p. 39, pl. 13, fig. 9), but the latter is smaller (26.1 x 15.5 µm), and has a thinner spore wall; differs from Inapertisporites communis Song & Li (Song et al., p. 38, pl. 1, figs. 4, 5) in that this species has thinner and folded spore wall.

Etymology: for the solid spore wall.
