SPECIES, AUTHORITY I. subcapsularis (Sheffy & Dilcher) Kalgutkar & Jansonius 2000
LOCATION Puryear clay pit, one-half mile south of Puryear, Henry County, Tennessee, USA.
ORIG DESCRIPTION* Capsulate [i.e. capsule-like?], psilate, unicellular spore, inaperturate, slightly constricted along one side. Size ranges from 11.6 x 17.4 - 17.9 x 26.6 µm (three specimens). Holotype: size 12.1 x 21.8 µm.

K&J REMARKS Illustration of the holotype identified by its size. The specimen is poorly illustrated, or rather, may be a poorly preserved bit of woody or resinous material. Its characteristics as a fungal spore are indistinct and poorly defined, and therefore here questioned.
