ORIG DESCRIPTION* Subspherical to oval fungal spores; size range 21-90 x 21-76 µm; unicellate, inaperturate; spore wall 0.5 µm thick, punctate, puncta fine, closely placed and uniformly distributed all over the spore wall, irregularly folded.

PUBLICATION REFERENCE Chandra A, Saxena RK, Setty MGAP. 1984. Palynological investigation of the sediment cores from the Arabian Sea: I. Fungal spores; Biovigyanam, v. 10, p. 41-58.
K&J REMARKS The original binomial for this species is a junior homonym of I. punctatus Rouse; Gupta 1985 proposed a new name. The "punctae" in the original illustration are difficult to recognize, as the spore is mostly opaque; part of what looks like punctae (i.e. thinnings in the wall) may result from poor preservation.
