SPECIES, AUTHORITY Mohgaonidium Singhai 1974, p. 95.
LOCATION
ORIG DESCRIPTION* ORIGINAL DIAGNOSIS: Pycnidia small, brown, thick-walled, ostiolate, oval or more or less globose; conidia faintly brown, 1-celled, ovoid or ellipsoidal; conidiophores short and simple.

Monotypic.
COMMENTS* The characters of the fossil form closely resemble the living form Coniothyrium Sacc. belonging to Fungi Imperfecti, particularly in its oval or spherical pycnidium; conidiophores short and simple and conidia small, brown, 1-celled, ovoid or ellipsoid in shape (Barnett, 1960; Gilman, 1959). In Coniothyrium fuckelii the conidia are apiculate at one end and are 2.5-3.5 x 3-5.2 µm whereas in the present form the conidia are smooth and slightly larger, 3-4 x 4-6 µm in size. But Coniothyrium differs from the present fungus in having a black and larger pycnidium and dark brown conidia, whereas the present one has brown pycnidia and faintly brown conidia. Other living genera, Phoma (Fries) Desm. and Phyllosticta Pers. ex Desm., belonging to Fungi Imperfecti, also resemble the present fungus but can easily be differentiated, as the living ones possess hyaline conidia (Barnett, 1960; Gilman, 1959; Westcott, 1960).
