SPECIES, AUTHORITY M. doubingerae Kalgutkar & Jansonius 2000
LOCATION Cerrejon basin, Colombia.
ORIG DESCRIPTION* Spores unicellular, monoporate, smooth and highly melanized, 15-17 x 8-9 µm. The wall is thick (0.8-1 µm) and does not become thinner toward the apical end. The apical pore is 1.2 µm in diameter. An atrium is observed occasionally. [Unedited translation from French; GSC Calgary Library, Translation No. T4047624.]
COMMENTS* The species found at Cerrejon is remarkable because of the consistent thickness of the walls and the diameter of the apical pore. Generally speaking, the forms described before are stockier. The presence of an atrium has been noted before in the Ascomycetes, and corresponds to a second cell. [Translation No. T4047624.]
