K&J REMARKS It appears that this name was not validly published because the author did not specify where the holotype is stored, and did not provide a Latin or English translation. (ICBN, Art. 36.3.)

The illustrated specimens (l.c., fig. 18-19, 26-27) are 70-110 x 21-26 µm in size, and in outline somewhat resemble Kalgutkar and Jansonius's (2000) Pl. 14, fig. 2 (which represents Diporicellaesporites pluricellus Kar & Saxena 1976); the outline shows no trace of septal constrictions, but the spores appear to have some 8-10 cells. The curious aspect of this species is that along the central axis there is a row of disconnected small septa (or round central thickenings around a septal pore?), which give the appearance of young peas in a pod -- to which the specific epithet makes reference.

It seems that this distinctive species should belong in Diporicellaesporites.
