SPECIES, AUTHORITY P. bharwainensis (Singh & Saxena) Kalgutkar & Jansonius 2000
LOCATION Gagret-Bharwain Road section, District Una, Himachal Pradesh, India.
ORIG DESCRIPTION* Subcircular-oval, 55-66 x 48-52 µm (excluding appendage). Germinal mark absent. Exine up to 0.5 µm thick, levigate. A long about 1.5 µm thick, hair-like appendage present, being occasionally branched.
COMMENTS* The present species resembles Aplanosporites robustus Kar 1979 in shape and general organization but can be differentiated by its smaller size-range, thinner exine and long hair-like delicate appendage, while the latter is bigger in size and has a robustly built, shorter appendage and thicker exine. Moreover, the present species lacks irregular exinal folds which occur in A. robustus.
