FIGURE REFERENCE Trivedi BS, Verma CL. 1970. Fungal remains from Tertiary coal bed of Malaya; Journal of Palynology, v. 5 (1969), p. 68-73.
SPECIES, AUTHORITY P. colonica Trivedi & Verma ex Kalgutkar & Jansonius 2000.
LOCATION Near Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia ('Malaysa').
ORIG DESCRIPTION* Spores in colonies, number of spores in the colony varies from 30-150 µm, each spore of the colony somewhat spherical in shape, outline appears to be circular, spore wall thin, less than 1 µm thick, smooth, light colored. Individual spore of the colony 20-30 µm in diameter, the size of the whole colony ranges from 50-120 µm.
COMMENTS* Palambages colonica differs from P. canadiana described by Srivastava (1968) and P. morulosa Wetzel 1961 (Manum & Cookson 1964) in shape and bigger size. Smallest colonies of such spores recovered by us consist of more than 30 spores. The specific name colonicus is given because the spores are always found in colonies.

K&J REMARKS The name of this species was not validly published because two different (although rather similar) specimens were included under the designation "HOLOTYPE". Kalgutkar and Jansonius (2000) selected fig. 5 as holotype; the type slide is in the personal collection of Dr. Trivedi.
TYPE P. colonica Trivedi & Verma 1970, p. 72, pl. 1, figs. 5-6 (nom. nud.); holotype is fig. 5 (here designated).
