ORIG DESCRIPTION* ORIGINAL DIAGNOSIS: Fungal remains of globular to elongate shape, consisting of numerous more or less polygonal cells that are firmly fused into mulberry-shaped aggregates. Cells without any regular order, or concentrically arranged. No differentiation of an outer wall layer; however, one to three of the innermost cells commonly much larger. K&J REMARKS Palambages appears to represent thinner-walled vesicles, that are less tightly aggregated into spherical units; conceivably, Palambages could represent an algal fossil. The fungal affinity of Papulosporonites seems to be generally accepted. In Polyadosporites the individual cells are less tightly appressed into a spherical mass.
