LOCATION Kanguk Peninsula, Axel Heiberg Island, Northwest Territories, Canada.
ORIG DESCRIPTION* Spores solitary, generally obovoid or pyriform with obtuse to rounded distal cell, 1-3 septate, generally 4-celled, gradually tapering towards the base, greatest width near middle septum; dark brown with protuberant hyaline hilum; spores monoaperturate, aperture subtended by a portion of the pedicel or hilum. Spore wall less than 1 µm. Septa of different thickness; proximal septa thinner than the distal septa; distal septa about 2 µm thick and much thicker than the cell wall and proximal septa; spore surface rough and impregnated with coarse markings and dots. Spore size 42-55 x 16-21 µm.
COMMENTS* Similar to the conidia of modern Brachysporium bloxami (Cooke) Saccardo 1886 in general appearance, although the latter are smooth and distally narrow.

Etymology: for coarse spore surface.
