ORIG DESCRIPTION

Multicellular, multiseptate, monoporate fungal spore. Has six cells, and the one with the pore is very small. Has five septa 3 µm thick, each with a 1 µm aperture. The exine is 1 µm thick. Elliptical perimeter with bilateral symmetry. Smooth ornamentation. Dimensions: 57 µm long by 16 µm wide.

K&J REMARKS
As the binomial of this species was a junior homonym, and hence illegitimate, Kalgutkar and Jansonius (2000) propose the new name P. mexicanus.
