ORIG DESCRIPTION* Spores widely ellipsoidal, rounded at both ends; holotype 56 x 23 µm, four- to five-celled, cells at both ends nearly hemispherical, other cells flat trapezium-shaped; single pore small, located at the proximal end, pore indistinct, about 2 µm wide; septa three [or more]; spore wall rather rigid, surface smooth; contact areas between cells without distinct indentations; spores black.
COMMENTS* Differs from Pluricellaesporites antarcticus in having ellipsoidal shape and small indistinct pore, whereas the latter species has a large and distinct pore.

Etymology: for the shape of small pore.
