LOCATION
Canon City coal field, Fremont County, Colorado, USA.
ORIG DESCRIPTION
*
Fungal spores uniseriate, individuals consist of six to twelve cells flattened at common boundaries, convex at sides, cell height 7-10 µm, diameter 8-15 µm, shorter at apices; cell wall 1-1.5 µm thick; wall covered with short echinate (base wider than height) projections, 0.5 µm high, producing a rough irregular appearance; septa bidentate, overall dimensions 12-16 x 53-72 µm.
COMMENTS
*
The specific name is Latin for rough and is given in reference to the appearance of the cell wall. Pluricellaesporites scabiosus differs from P. psilatus by its rougher cell wall ornamentation. Septal dentations present in a few specimens are not well developed.
