LOCATION Piedras Negras, Coahuila State, Mexico.
ORIG DESCRIPTION* Multicellular, multiseptate, monoporate fungal spore. The cells are of variable size. The septa are 2 to 6 µm thick, with a V-shaped aperture in the centre. The exine is 1 µm thick. Elongate perimeter with bilateral symmetry. Smooth ornamentation. Dimensions: 70 µm long by 6 µm wide.
COMMENTS* Named in honor of Dr. H.V. Sheffy, one of the pioneers in the systematic and taxonomic study of fossil fungus remains.

K&J REMARKS The septa are about 2 µm thick, but some of them have developed, as a result of lateral compression, v-shaped flaps that jot out up to 4 µm. The type specimen is incomplete; its monoporate status cannot be verified.
