K&J REMARKS Kalgutkar and Jansonius (2000) consider that the creation of a new genus for these forms is unwarranted, and include the type, S. varias, in Diporisporites van der Hammen 1954, emend. Elsik 1968, as a new species having scabrate ornamentation. This makes Scabradiporites a junior taxonomic synonym of Diporisporites. However, Elsik (1992), in his revision of Diporisporites, emended the generic diagnosis to include only those diporate fungal spores that have one cell, simple pores, and a psilate wall.

The epithet "varias," possibly a typographic error for "varians" or "varius," is here accepted as an undeclinable word.
TYPE TYPE: Scabradiporites varias Mathur 1966, p. 43, pl. 2, fig. 28.
