ORIG DESCRIPTION* ORIGINAL DIAGNOSIS: Spores circular to subcircular, inaperturate; multicellular, each cell giving rise to a robustly built spine.

Monotypic.
COMMENTS* Phragmothyrites Edwards 1922, emend. Kar & Saxena 1976, differs from the present genus by its radiating hyphae and absence of spines.
