PUBLICATION REFERENCE Sheffy MV, Dilcher DL. 1971. Morphology and taxonomy of fungal spores; Palaeontographica, Abt. B, v. 133 p. 34-51.
K&J REMARKS Kalgutkar and Jansonius (2000) consider the three "pores", which are accentuated by narrow but thick opaque rims, to be the result of preservation, of internal germination processes, or of parasitic attack. Kalgutkar and Jansonius (2000) do not consider these three features to have any role in the systematic placement of this (single) spore. Thus, it seems logical to transfer this form to Inapertisporites. In that genus is already a species I. ovalis Sheffy & Dilcher; rather than give T. ovalis a new name, Kalgutkar and Jansonius (2000) assign it to the very similar I. ovalis, as a junior synonym. However, Kalgutkar and Jansonius (2000) include its illustration on the plate of Inapertisporites, next to I. ovalis.
