Title: Trigonalidae: there is no controversy, this issue has been firmly settled.
Abstract: This is an old revision of this page, as edited by Dyanega (talk | contribs) at 21:33, 10 February 2023 (moving note on alternative spelling to separate section; there is no controversy, this issue has been firmly settled).

Doug also wrote on Facebook (2017):
ICZN Article 29.3.1.1 allows for "elided" forms of stems to be used, and the elided form of Trigonalyd- is Trigonal-, not Trigonaly-, so Cresson's original spelling is Code-compliant, while Krieger's is not. This issue of elided versus unelided stems in family names crops up all over, such as Leucospidae versus Leucospididae, Plataspidae versus Plataspididae, etc., and Article 29.3.1.1 is fairly clear as to the conditions when the original spelling can be superceded; had Krieger emended it to "Trigonalydidae", then, and only then, would that potentially replace the original spelling, and even then it would have to be in prevailing use.
