cut surface turning reddish then gray. wounded areas becoming black slowly. rim of cap and gill edge at margin blackening in age. taste nutty pleasant

600A - th etwo specimens split down the middle respond to pdab on stipe with characteristic pink reaction of R. occidentalis. these were used for macrochemincal tests.
600B - the two specimens, one with detached cap from which spore print was taken and the small younger stage, to not react with pdab. they also do not turn reddish when cut, not will blacken
